Importance of Daily Exercise for Your Pet – How to Get The Maximum Benefit From a Professional Pet Sitter

September 25, 2013 By Leslie Horn

I have been  a Dog Walker and Dog Adventure Trip provider for 15 years!!  We can take care of those dogs that need to RUN RUN to get their regular exercise!  I love the energetic playful dogs that love to hike off leash in the open spaces on our Adventure trips.  You will find these dogs behaving better, being happier and getting into less trouble at home when we provide them with a daily exercise routine.  These hikes help maintain your dogs health by keeping your pets mobility and pets flexibility in use on a regular routine.  Constant daily stimulation and puppy socialization is so important to having an emotionally stable happy dog.   It’s hard to make that commitment to exercise your dog each day.  Life is busy.  When you can rely on a Professional Dog Walker it takes the worry and the guilt out owning a dog!  Puppy Training and Dog Training are a natural part of my daily visits with the dogs.  Lots of PRAISE!!!

Why use a Professional Pet Sitter and Not a Kennel for Your Vacation Get-Away?

September 25, 2013 By Leslie Horn

I have been a Pet Sitter for 15 years!  Using a Professional Pet Sitter can be such a positive, healthy experience for you and your pet.   As Pet Sitter’s we generally have a love for all animals, with a strong instinct to nurture and love.  We are in the pet care industry because it is a passion for us.  A Kennel can be a scary place for a dog or cat.  Also, I have seen many pets get sick when staying in kennels.  The healthy choice would be to stay home in a familiar safe environment with a reliable caring Professional Pet Sitter to handle all Pet Care needs, Including hugs!

Positive Reinforcement for leash reactive dogs

September 25, 2013 By Leslie Horn

I am a firm believer in the power of positive reinforcement.  Being a professional dog walker for 15 years,  I have witnessed first hand how effective this is as a training method.  When dogs are barking and lunging at the end of their leashes, it helps to stay very calm and place the dog in sitting position (if possible) with focus on a treat rather than the passing dog.  Lots and Lots of praise for even the littlest accomplishment.  The idea is to give the dog something to look forward to when they see a passing dog rather than something to fear and have anxiety about.  This does not happen overnight, but it will improve with consistency.

For a Bored Cat while you’re on vacation.

September 25, 2013 By Leslie Horn

Recently a client of mine bought one of these for her cat to play with.  AWESOME!  The toy is battery operated and the mouse runs around and around…..Cats LOVE it!  It’s also very entertaining for humans!

Walking Groups

September 24, 2013 By Leslie Horn

Everyone always asks how to walk a group of dogs.. Answer…it’s tough!!  Best advice I can say is to try to keep the group moving forward.  It’s when you stop that you get tied in knots!  Get all the potty done first off and then Go For It!!  Keeping a short leash for all the dogs in the group is also very helpful.  Try to match energy levels with in your group as well.  The slow-sniffers should be a group and the young-movers could be another group.

Goodluck!
